Having a driving conviction isn’t something that everyone wants. If you end up with a driving conviction, you will end up paying more for your insurance in the years to come.

More often than not, the majority of insurance providers will skyrocket your insurance premium if you have one or multiple driving convictions. Some may not even insure you at all.

Fortunately, there are insurance providers that understand that what happened in the past isn’t an indicator to what will happen in the future.

What Details Do I Need To Provide?

Details Of The Vehicle

You don’t need to know the exact model of your van. Enter your reg and we’ll automatically fill the details for you.

No Claims Bonus (NCB)

We’ll ask for how many years of NCB you have. You can also request this from your current insurance provider.

Named Drivers

We’ll need the personal and licence details of other drivers in order to add them to your policy.

Licence Details

We need to know the details of your licence, how long you’ve held the licence for, and what type you hold.

Previous Claims

Have you been involved in any accidents or claims in the last 5 years?

Driving Convictions

If you have any points or disqualifications on your licence, we will need to know all of the details.

What Are The Different Levels Of Cover I Can Purchase?

When taking out a convicted van insurance policy, you’ll be asked which type of cover you’d like to purchase. There are three levels of cover. Here are your options:

Fully Comprehensive

This is the most extensive level of cover available. It includes third-party, fire & theft. This protects you and other motorists from any damage you cause, as well as covering medical expenses.

Third-Party, Fire & Theft

This level of cover helps you if you’re responsible for damage to other people, passengers or their property and it will cover the cost of repairs. You are also covered if your van gets stolen or damaged by fire. HOWEVER, if you’re responsible for an accident, this level of cover will not help pay for repairs to your vehicle or any medical expenses, you will have to pay the costs.

Third-Party Only

This is the most basic level of cover you can purchase and the lowest that it legally required. This will help pay for any damage you cause to other vehicles and property. There is no cover for you or your van. If your vehicle is damaged or stolen, you won’t be able to claim back the cost.

Frequently Asked Questions

We understand that taking out convicted van insurance can seem quite daunting. That’s why we’ve put together a collection of FAQs to answer any questions that you may have.

There are different conviction types, all with varying severity and number of points that will be allocated to your licence. The most common convictions are:
SP30 - Speeding on a public road
CU80 - Using a hand-held device while driving
IN10 - Driving without a licence
SP50 - Speeding on a motorway
TS10 - Failing to comply with traffic light signals
If you’re found out to have convictions and you don’t declare them on your policy, your insurer is entitled to cancel your policy or turn down a future claim.
Sadly, your driving convictions will result in you paying more for your insurance, and probably more than you anticipate. It doesn’t matter if it were an honest mistake, you’ll be paying the price for it.
