Covering your van against risks such as fire, theft and damage is vital. Whether your van is an essential asset to your business, or you use it for running around, it’s important to protect yourself against these dangers so you’re not out of pocket.

Whether you drive a transit van, a pick-up or a tipper, we understand that van insurance is essential for your peace of mind. It can be useful as vans can’t be covered by car insurance, especially if you use your van for business.

By finding van cover with us, you’ll have the option to work with insurers that include breakdown cover to make sure your business always runs smoothly and cover for your tools / cargo.

What Are The Different Levels Of Cover I Can Purchase?

When taking out a van insurance policy, you’ll be asked which type of cover you’d like to purchase. There are three levels of cover. Here are your options:

Fully Comprehensive

This is the most extensive level of cover available. It includes third-party, fire & theft. This protects you and other motorists from any damage you cause, as well as covering medical expenses.

Third-Party, Fire & Theft

This level of cover helps you if you’re responsible for damage to other people, passengers or their property and it will cover the cost of repairs. You are also covered if your van gets stolen or damaged by fire. HOWEVER, if you’re responsible for an accident, this level of cover will not help pay for repairs to your vehicle or any medical expenses, you will have to pay the costs.

Third-Party Only

This is the most basic level of cover you can purchase and the lowest that it legally required. This will help pay for any damage you cause to other vehicles and property. There is no cover for you or your van. If your vehicle is damaged or stolen, you won’t be able to claim back the cost.

Frequently Asked Questions

We understand that taking out van insurance can seem quite daunting. That’s why we’ve put together a collection of FAQs to answer any questions that you may have.

You cannot unfortunately. If you’ve built up a no-claims-bonus driving your car, you can only transfer it to other cars. NCB can’t be applied to multiple vehicles.
Of course! We know that the majority of vans in the UK are used for commercial and business purposes, but many of us still drive a van to get from A to B. Although, you need to be able to prove that you use it solely for your own personal use.
Not on a single van insurance policy. If you own multiple vans for a business, you will have to look into getting a van fleet policy. If this applies to you, enquire about a van fleet policy here.
